About Us

When George and Joyce Lambert moved to Lafayette in 1966, George was working for Clarklift out of New Orleans. He would service all the local companies and surrounding areas. After a while, Clarklift decided they would only service the Clarklift forklift and no other name brand. George had built up a clientele who had other name brand forklifts and he couldn’t tell them he could no longer service their forklift needs. George asked his customers if he launched his own business, would they still use his services and they told him "Yes."

On July 5, 1969, George and Joyce started George’s Lift Truck Service, with only a few dollars to their name. George started the first locally-owned forklift company. George’s Lift Truck Service was the first forklift company in the Acadiana area. While George focused on building a strong customer base, Joyce took care of the paperwork and held down other jobs and raised their three daughters.

George’s first shop location was in a red barn off Fieldspan. In 1974, they built their shop location at 1634 W. Pinhook Rd. in Lafayette. The company continued to grow and mechanics were hired. Forklift rental was added as another service to this area along with transportation. In July of 1979, George’s Lift Truck Service became incorporated. On July 4, 1995, they relocated to 122 Southpark Rd. in Lafayette, Louisiana. They now have a larger facility to work out of.

On May 1, 2007, George and Joyce sold George’s Lift Truck Service to Sharon Ardoin and Keith Fury. Sharon has been with the company since June of 1984. She started out part-time, then was hired full-time that year to help with the secretarial work. Later she went on to handle service dispatching, rentals and tire sales. She is now a partner.

Keith Fury has been with the company since May of 1990. He started out as a road mechanic, shop/service dispatcher, and is now a partner.

The good reputation and good service that the company was known for while George and Joyce owned the company we strive to keep today. After 40 years, George’s Truck Lift Service is still “locally owned and operated.” We would like to thank all of our past, present and future customers for their support and the opportunity to service their equipment needs. We would like to send special thanks for the help and support of our vendors.
